Salvestrol Definition

Salvestrols are natural anticancer molecules present in fruits, vegetables and herbs. They are activated inside tumour cells to anticancer metabolites that destroy the cancer from within. The enzyme that activates them is called Beta Salvestrol Activase also known as CYP1B1. This enzyme is expressed in every form of human cancer. Each cancer cell has the CYP1B1 enzyme that has been likened to a Trojan Horse within the tumour cell. When the salvestrols reach the tumour they encounter the trojan horse and release a stream of deadly chemicals killing the tumour cells and destroying the tumour. There are 100 salvestrols in total in five different classes alpha, beta, gamma, delta and omega. It is the omega salvestrols that ultimately destroy the tumour. When salvestrols reach the liver they are salvaged and returned to the bloodstream for re-delivery to the tumour, hence the name salvestrols from the Latin word "salve" which means "to save". The alpha salvestrols are present in red fruits such as grapes and one example is the red wine constituent resveratrol. Resveratrol is salvestrol S30 and 10 others are important in the diet. Salvestrol Q40 is the most potent of these and is found in high concentrations in brassica vegetables and citrus fruit such as oranges. Salvestrol Therapy is the use of salvestrols to combat cancer. For Salvestrol therapy a high strength supplement such as Salvestrol Platinum (2000 points) is taken 3 times daily after meals. Published case studies have shown Salvestrols to be effective against a wide variety of cancers including breast, brain, bladder, cervical, colon, liver, skin, ovarian, testicular, prostate, and lung cancer.

Salvestrols Cure Cancer Part 2

The first part of Salvestrol Cures Cancer described recoveries from cancer by people with lung cancer, prostate cancer, breast cancer and colon cancer. Here are given examples of the breadth and scope of salvestrol therapy in treating the most incurable forms of cancer known such as pancreatic cancer.
Case #511. Stage 3 Hodgkin's Lymphoma
A 66-year-old man was diagnosed with Stage 3 Hodkins Lymphoma. Examination revealed a variety of tumours in lymph nodes in his neck, chest, abdomen and groin. Some of these tumours were approaching 3 cm in diameter. The patient had suffered significant weight loss,
appetite loss, and experienced pain in the area of his neck, stomach and groin. The pain was significant with the patient taking strong pain killers for this. An endoscopic examination was used to obtain material for biopsy. A diagnosis of stage 3 Hodgkin's Lymphoma was confirmed. The patient was advised that his physicians felt that he had one to two years left before the disease would end his life.
One month later a course of chemotherapy was administered and maintained for six months (including Doxorubicin, Bleomycin, Vinblastine, and Dacarbazine). No radiation therapy was given. This individual found the chemotherapy very difficult to tolerate. After six months the chemotherapy was completed. Imaging revealed that the original tumours in his neck, abdomen and groin still remained, and those in his neck and abdomen were showing signs of continued growth during the course of chemotherapy. No further treatment was provided.
One month following the end of his chemotherapy this gentleman began taking a course of Salvestrol Platinum. This comprised four Salvestrol Platinum (1,000 point) capsules, with two capsules taken in the morning and two capsules taken in the evening after meals (4,000 points per day). This level of salvestrol supplementation was carried out for 6 months. There was no other concurrent treatment, no dietary changes were made and no additional supplements were used. His appetite returned to normal quite quickly after starting to take salvestrols and he began to regain the weight that he had lost.
After 6 months, a follow up visit with his oncologist revealed that the tumours which had remained after his chemotherapy were now gone. The oncologist told him that he was in remission. This gentleman has been followed up at intervals of three months and each visit since has confirmed that he is cancer free.
Case#513 Lung Cancer
Helped Cure My Brother in Laws Lung Cancer
These salvestrols were used to knock out my Brother-in-Laws lung cancer over a period of two months. This natural non-toxic treatment made the tumors in his lungs, back, and pelvis 'melt away'. His doctor calls him the "Miracle Man". His doctor is not allowed to use 'alternative medicines', so I did the research, bought the salvestrols and had them shipped to him in mid-July 2010. By mid-September 2010, all tumors are gone from his lungs and back and the one in his pelvis is half the size and shrinking. Makes me a believer. One note he told me was that the Salvestrols 'upset his stomach'. Make your cancer victim a "Miracle" person also. Great support from the Shen Clinic.
Case#14 Lung Cancer
About a couple of months ago, I received a call from the UK, (I live in Australia) that my Sister had Lung Cancer that had spread to the Brain and she was only receiving Palliative care, as she was told that there was nothing left in the way of treatment for her. As she did not seem to have anything to lose, I suggested that she try Salvestrols, as they are available in the UK and not expensive.
Yesterday, I received a phone call from my Brother, who informed me that my sister had a checkup and the doctors were amazed that the brain mets were almost undetectable and her lungs were starting to heal. As she was not receiving any other curative treatment, I can only assume that the Salvestrols were the cause of her progress.
Case#15 Cervical Cancer and Ovarian Cancer
Hello, I have just read your article on the impact that salvestrols have on skin tumours. My Mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer two years ago, and is still receiving treatment for it. A friend of mine told me about someone she knew who had managed to rid herself of stage 4 cervical cancer by taking 2 salvestrol platinum capsules a day, so I immediately got my Mum to start taking them on a daily basis. As well as having ovarian cancer my Mum had a basal cell carcinoma on her back which had been there for approx 5 years. It would weep and bleed and would often be quite painful, however since taking salvestrols it has dried up and completely healed over. We were astounded! The salvestrol capsules are working miracles!
Case#516 Testicular Cancer
I have compiled a list of treatments which were successfully used to treat my testicular (stage 4) tumour. Having been diagnosed with this malignant form of cancer, I rejected the strongly given advice to have my right testicle surgically removed. This course of action was actually suggested to me by 5 separate consultants and registrars. The outcome of my decision to self treat the disease, which was witnessed via an ultra-sound scan, is that my tumour has decreased in mass over a period of 10 months from its peak of 4 cm across (far larger in fact than the host testicle) to its present appearance as a vague shadow of less than 1 cm across. My successful self treatment consisted of an approach in two stages. Firstly improving the diet to provide nutrition for the body, and secondly taking Salvestrol supplements to address the underlying condition. My protocol was to change the diet to a solely organic (not processed) food, green and red based diet. Supplements taken were one Salvestrol Platinum (2000 point) capsule per day together with Vitamin C and Iodine supplements. Should anyone else wish to follow in my footsteps, healing from cancer is an entirely replicable, achievable goal. I do not however guarantee that the steps which I took would work for anyone else, as every case history is different and cancer requires a truly personal healing journey to move beyond, and live through. This letter is written in love and light, with every prayer for all our fellow humans who walk the path of experiencing cancer in this lifetime.
Case#517 Testicular Cancer
http://curezone.com/forums/fm.asp?i=1199484
I know a guy personally who was cured of testicular cancer by going on a vegan diet, exercising and taking "Salvestrols":
Case#518 Ovarian Cancer
In 2004 I was introduced to a 53-year old lady who was diagnosed with stage IV ovarian cancer that had extensively metastasised around her body. She was a keen golfer but had given up the sport due to her ill health. When I met her she looked very unwell indeed. I explained to her that we all have a special enzyme in our body that can destroy cancer, but this has to be triggered by salvestrols to work. She commenced taking one Salvestrol Platinum capsule each day for a period of 6 months. There was no sudden change in her condition, but slowly there were sure signs of improvement. She was starting to feel gradually better as the months passed, and after 3 months the tumours started regressing. This regression continued at a slow but sure pace until after 6 months there were no signs of any cancer remaining. At this point she felt well enough to take up her favourite sport of golf playing again with friends. She has continued to take Salvestrol Shield (350 points) every day since to prevent the cancer from returning. I met her recently, 8 years after she was diagnosed, and she looked so vibrant and full of life. It is hard to believe she is the same woman that I was first intoduced to back in 2004. In retrospect I think she would have recovered much faster by taking the Salvestrol Platinum capsules 3 times daily.
Case#519 Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia
My mother introduced me to her friend, an 81-year old lady who had been diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia. When I met her she had a large 3 cm tumour in the lymph glands of her neck and was finding eating difficult. She was also having trouble sleeping due to swelling and tenderness of the lymph glands under the arms and in the groin. She did not look at all well and had an ashen complexion. I explained to her how salvestrols work naturally by triggering the destruction of the cancer cells from within. She commenced taking one Salvestrol Platinum capsule each day for a period of 3 months. During this time there was a marked improvement in her condition. The tumour in her neck started shrinking rapidly and reduced to half its size within 1 month. The swelling in the lymph glands also quickly subsided and she was able to start sleeping properly again. After 2 months the tumour in her neck had gone. After 3 months she returned to her doctor who declared that there were no signs of cancer in her body. She has continued taking 1 Salvestrol Shield daily both as a preventative measure against the cancer returning, and because she says the salvestrols make her feel good. I met her recently, 6 months after she was diagnosed, and she looked very healthy with a rosey complexion. The fast response rate here is impressive and this occurred at a dose of only one capsule of Salvestrol Platinum daily.
Case#520 Pancreatic Cancer
I found out in November 2010 that I was terminally ill with deadly pancreatic cancer. When the doctors said I had only 6 months to live I was in complete shock. The tumor was so large that they could not remove it. Being given chemotherapy was inevitable, but this failed to reduce the size of the tumours.
I've been taking Salvestrol Platinum for almost a year now, taking a dose of 4000 points per day. After 6 months of taking this the following examination in the hospital revealed that the tumor had shrunk from 3.5 cm to 1.5 cm which the doctors said was better than during the chemotherapy. The blood results were always very good, which was unusual for my disease. After a further 3 months the tumor was only 0.8 cm in size. No one could understand it that I have healed so well. I'm very much convinced the Salvestrols helped me fight the cancer. So far I've only heard positive comments about it and I recommend it. To me it saves lives.
Case#521 Kidney Cancer
After removal of one kidney with a large 5 cm tumor about 4 months ago, I attended a seminar by Professor Dan Burke, the co-discoverer of Salvestrols, who showed the impressive potential of Salvestrol against cancer. Shortly afterwards I was informed by my doctor about the possibilities of a test for free tumor cells in the body. This test has a threshold of "118." My blood test resulted in a significant "143" which has a high probability of metastasising. He recommended I took a daily dose of 10,000 Points of Salvestrol a day for one month. The test after this month showed an impressive result: "126". I have maintained my current diet and salvestrol supplements for 3 months. My test is below "118" and I'm now in remission.
Case#522 Multiple Myeloma
I have Multiple Myeloma MM
At the age of 70 I was diagnosed with polymyalgia rheumatica and multiple myeloma, which was attacking my kidneys. These were slowly getting plugged up by proteins from the MM. I was advised to take Salvestrol Platinum once daily. This is a natural product made in the UK. It has stabilized my condition now for six years running.
Case#523
My mate had cancer which had spread throughout his body and he bought high dose salvestrol pills and within 3 months was clear of cancer. His doc was amazed...gave him 6 months originally to live
Case#524
Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma
Thought I must pass this information on.
I was in touch with someone I met at a support group meeting, and his wife has been having salvestrol supplements for Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.
She has been taking Salvestrol capsules for 2 months and her last ct scan showed a big reduction in 2 of her tumours. Salvestrols are plant based product that have been found to only act on diseased cells not healthy ones. If you have cancer it acts by interacting with an enzyme to produce a substance that is toxic to cancer cells and helps to destroy them. If you only have healthy cells it is excreted by the body naturally. It is completely non-toxic and is made from natural plant derivatives.

Salvestrol Cures Cancer

There is accumulating evidence that salvestrols cure cancer in a variety of different types of this disease. Salvestrols are natural anticancer molecules present in the human diet. Here are some examples:
Case #1: Lung cancer
A 69-year-old male was diagnosed with inoperable, stage 2-3 squamous-cell carcinoma of the lung. A seven-centimetre tumour was detected. Enlarged lymph nodes were also detected, one of which was approaching three centimetres in diameter. This patient had seen his doctor due to coughing up blood. No chemotherapy or radiation therapies were recommended. He was given a life expectancy of 8 months and sent home. Since diet and lifestyle may well have contributed to his condition, dietary change was strongly recommended with an emphasis on organic fruit and vegetables. The patient commenced a diet of fresh, organic fruit, vegetables and juices. Meat, refined sugar and dairy products were eliminated from his diet. He also took 2 Salvestrol Platinum (2000 point) capsules daily. At the end of the first week of Salvestrol supplementation the patient was no longer coughing up blood. Within three weeks, his diagnosis had been changed from inoperable to operable lung cancer requiring removal of one lung. At the end of three weeks a biopsy of the largest lymph node was taken following a PET scan and was found to be negative. The diagnosis was once again changed to operable lung cancer requiring removal of one lobe of the affected lung. Six weeks after commencement of dietary change and Salvestrol supplementation surgery was performed. Rather than removing one lobe of the lung as planned, the surgeon simply removed the shrunken tumour and a couple of suspicious lymph nodes. During surgery the tumour was found to be clear of the sternum and chest wall. Postoperative analysis of the lymph nodes proved that they were not cancerous. This patient was deemed cancer free. After the surgery he has reduced the amount of salvestrol supplementation to 1 capsule (2000 points) daily as a preventative measure and has maintained a diet rich in organic fruit and vegetables.
Case #2: Melanoma
A 94-year-old woman was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma following a biopsy and was badly affecting her foot. At the time of diagnosis she was unable to walk and black spots had appeared on her body. The melanoma was deemed to be inoperable. The surgeon and the patient's family agreed that the patient was unlikely to survive the treatment options of skin grafting, amputation and radiation. The family asked for alternative procedures and were told there were none. The patient was given a life expectancy of just two weeks and returned to her nursing home. The family was advised that if she lived longer than the two weeks she would require morphine to control the pain. Upon returning home, the family started her on a regimen of using Salvestrol cream for her melanoma. She also took four salvestrol platinum (1,000 point) capsules per day, for seven months (4,000 points per day). The family also requested her nursing home serve an anti-inflammatory diet contain organic, wholesome foods. Contrary to expectation, no pain medication was ever required. After a few months, the melanoma was healing sufficiently and the patient was able to put some weight on her foot. The black spots that had appeared on her body stopped developing further and were contained. A few months later she began walking and was pushing her wheelchair rather than being pushed in it. A slow and steady progress was observed. After one year had elapsed the physician involved in her original diagnosis performed an examination. The melanoma was gone and her foot completely healed. She was deemed cancer free and it was noted that she had an extremely strong immune system. At the age of 95 this woman is enjoying walks with her friends.
Case #3. Prostate Cancer
A 74-year-old gentleman was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. Subsequently this gentleman spoke
with his cousin, a university lecturer, who told him that one of his students was diagnosed with a terminal brain cancer and had recovered after taking Salvestrols. He decided to begin a course of salvestrol supplementation taking two (350 point) Salvestrol Shield capsules per day. Six months after receiving his diagnosis his PSA level had dropped from 11 to below 1 ng/mL. At this point the patient switched salvestrol products and began taking one (2,000 point) Salvestrol Platinum capsule three times per day after meals, to give a total supplemtation of 6000 points per day. Twelve months after receiving his diagnosis his PSA level had dropped to 0.2 ng/mL. A new doctor continued with the PSA monitoring and upon receiving a subsequent PSA test result the physician said that the PSA level received was as low as it could be and asked if the patient was sure that he had not had surgery. Given the physician's surprise that such a result could be achieved the patient confessed to taking salvestrols. The physician then stated that he must be at the cutting edge of research and he had other patients he would like to start on salvestrols. This patient continues to receive PSA test results at the 0.2 ng/ml level and has continues to take one (350 point) Salvestrol Shield capsule per day as a preventative measure, and has now embarked on a fitness program and change in diet.
Case #4. Breast Cancer
A 36-year-old woman was diagnosed with aggressive stage 3 breast cancer, following biopsies and blood tests. A 3-5 cm tumour was found under the right breast and a larger tumour was found in an underarm lymph node. The breast tumour looked the size of a golf ball on the image. She was told that her situation was really serious. After her first round of chemotherapy she learned about Salvestrols, and began taking one (2,000 point) Salvestrol Platinum capsule per day. Feeling 'rock bottom' at the time she skeptically wondered how on earth these capsules were going to help. Consequently she was very surprised to find that the pain associated with the tumours soon disappeared and the tumours began to shrink quickly. She began to feel that 'she was going to be OK.' This prompted her to learn more about Salvestrols and after learning more she switched to a completely organic diet. This simultaneously increased her intake of Salvestrols and their cofactors. Prior to her next chemotherapy session she was examined by her oncologist who remarked that she thought that the tumours were gone. Ultrasound and mammography were scheduled to assist the surgeons. To everyone's surprise the radiologist could find no trace of the tumours through ultrasound and only a shadow was visible on the mammogram, so it was decided that surgery was unnecessary. She conitunues to take 1 capsule per day of Salvestrol Shield (350 point) as a preventative measure and has noticed her periods have resumed. Four months after refusing further chemotherapy her hair has grown back and she reported that she looked and felt wonderful. Presently, she actively assists people with cancer in their struggle to regain their health.
Case #5. Bladder Cancer
A 55-year-old male was diagnosed with bladder cancer following a cystoscopic examination. Hundreds of small tumours were found. Upon hearing about Salvestrols he began taking one (1,000 point) Salvestrol Gold capsule per day and three (1,000 point) Salvestrol Platinum capsules per day to give a total of 4000 points per day. The capsules were taken after food at meal times to ensure the best absorption of salvestrols. This gentleman did not engage in any other dietary change, and did not have any other treatments . Five months after starting the Salvestrol regimen a cystoscopic examination was scheduled. No tumours or cancerous tissue were found and he was deemed to be cancer free.
Case #6. Stage 3 breast cancer
A 50-year-old female was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer following ultrasound imaging and confirmed through biopsy. Imaging revealed a 2.5 cm tumour in the left breast. The recommended treatment was surgical removal of the tumour, along with chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Chemotherapy was declined and a surgery date was scheduled for exactly one month after the diagnosis had been confirmed. Concurrent with obtaining the diagnosis, the patient began a course of Salvestrols. This comprised four Salvestrol Platinum (1000 point) capsules, taken after meals. This level of Salvestrol supplementation (4,000 points per day) was carried out for three months. Further to the Salvestrol supplementation, the patient embarked on an organic diet and an exercise program of walking and yoga. Salvestrol specific co-factors were also taken to include biotin, niacin, magnesium and Vitamin C. During the one-month wait for surgery, breast self examination revealed that the tumour softened, and the tumour progressively decreased in size. After 1 month she went for surgery and a 1.3 cm tumour was removed (about half the diameter of the tumour at the time of diagnosis one month earlier). The lymph nodes were free of cancer, as was the blood. After three months of Salvestrol supplementation, the dosage was reduced to two capsules per day (2,000 points per day), and this dose has been maintained. Eight months after surgery the patient was cancer free. It seems reasonable to conclude that the degree of tumour shrinkage that she experienced during the one-month wait for surgery is attributable to the Salvestrol therapy.
Case #7. Stage 2 liver cancer
A 73-year-old Korean male was diagnosed with second-stage liver cancer following a scheduled examination to monitor liver cirrhosis. The patient had lost a lot of weight. A CT scan revealed three tumours; one in the centre of the liver in damaged tissue and two in healthy portions of his liver. No chemotherapy or radiotherapy treatment was prescribed due to the patient's age, the number of liver tumours. One month following his diagnosis he began taking 12 (350 point) Salvestrol supplements per day, commensurate with his body weight. This comprised six Salvestrol Shield (350 point) capsules and six Salvestrol Gold (350 point) capsules, spread through the day by taking two of each capsule after each main meal. This level of Salvestrol supplementation (4,000 points per day) was maintained for four months. In addition he began a program of breathing exercises, chi exercises, meditation, stretching and stress avoidance. Due to the variety of conditions that he suffered from, he received ongoing medical examinations. Eleven months after commencing Salvestrol supplementation he was declared 'all clear'of cancer.
Case #8. Colon cancer
A 64-year-old female was diagnosed with colon cancer. At the time of her consultation, her abdomen was continually distended leaving her with a bloated feeling. She was experiencing chronic, sharp pain in her abdomen that was heightened after eating. This pain was sufficiently severe that she was unable to touch her abdomen or lay face down. She had lost 10% of her weight and had a poor appetite. She was fatigued to the point of falling asleep by mid-day. She also experienced occasional nausea, and blood in her stool. Her skin colour had taken on a gray tone.
She chose not to pursue conventional treatment, and immediately started taking Salvestrols. This comprised three Salvestrol Platinum (1000 point) capsules, spread through the day by taking one capsule after each meal. This level of Salvestrol supplementation (3,000 points per day) was maintained for three months.
She reported feeling better after the initial three weeks of Salvestrol supplementation. Within five weeks she looked noticeably better to relatives. By seven weeks the abdominal pain had subsided, as had the distension. Three months later she reported feeling so much better.
After a period of seven months of Salvestrol supplementation her weight and skin color had returned to normal. In order to assess the progression of the disease she arranged for a privately funded ultrasound investigation. No cancer was found. From this point she has continued to take two Salvestrol Shield (350 point) capsules each morning (700 points per day) as a preventative measure. She has great confidence in Salvestrols and attributes her recovery to them.

Salvestrols Target Cancer Death Receptors

Salvestrol Q40 has been found to induce cancer cell death by upregulation of death receptors leading to apoptosis. The tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) is a promising target for cancer therapeutics. However, some tumor cells are resistant to TRAIL-induced apoptosis. Previous studies have shown that salvestrol Q40, a naturally occurring flavonoid, induces the up-regulation of death receptor 5 (DR5), which is a receptor for TRAIL. Here, we show for the first time that salvestrol Q40 synergistically acts with exogenous soluble recombinant human TRAIL to induce apoptosis in HeLa cervical cancer cells, but not in normal human peripheral blood mononuclear cells. The combined use of salvestrol Q40 and TRAIL induced Bid cleavage and the activation of caspase-8. Also, human recombinant DR5/Fc chimera protein, caspase inhibitors, and DR5 siRNA efficiently reduced apoptosis induced by co-treatment with salvestrol Q40 and TRAIL. These results raise the possibility that treatment with salvestrol Q40 might be promising as a new therapy against all types of cancer.
In studies against thyroid cancer cell lines, salvestrol T30 and salvestrol Q40 were the most effective inhibitors found. Salvestrol T30 was shown to inhibit cancer cell signal transduction and induce apoptosis. The scientists concluded that salvestrol T30 may provide a new approach for the treatment of human anaplastic thyroid carcinoma for which no effective therapy is presently available. Another study compared the effects of genistein, salvestrol T30, salvestrol Q40, chrysin and other flavonoids on human thyroid carcinoma cell lines. Among the flavonoids tested, salvestrol T30 and salvestrol Q40 were shown to be the most potent inhibitors of these cancer cell lines. The scientists noted that because these thyroid cancer cells lacked an anti-estrogen receptor binding site and an estrogen receptor, that salvestrol T30 and salvestrol Q40 are inhibiting these cancer cells via mechanisms involving CYP1B1 bioactivation. The scientists concluded that salvestrol T30 and salvestrol Q40 may represent a new class of therapeutic agents in the management of thyroid cancer.
To study the effects of various plant constituents, an examination was made of 21 different flavonoids on the growth of human breast cancer cells. Salvestrol T30 was shown to the most effective anti-proliferative flavonoid tested. A related study showed that flavonoids such as salvestrol T30 bind to estrogen receptor sites on cell membranes in order to prevent over-proliferation of these cells in response to estrogen.
A study assessed the antioxidant potencies of several dietary flavonoids compared with vitamin C. Pretreatment with all flavonoids and vitamin C produced dose-dependent reductions in oxidative DNA damage. When ranked in order of potency, only salvestrol T30, rutin and quercetin were more effective than vitamin C in reducing DNA oxidative damage.
Salvestrol T30 was tested to ascertain its effect on human leukemia cells. Salvestrol T30 was shown to induce apoptosis more effectively than quercetin and other flavonoids tested. The researchers attributed a unique mechanism of inducing apoptosis to the cancer preventive activity of salvestrol T30. Another study showed that salvestrol T30 and another flavonoid called salvestrol Q40 strongly inhibited the growth of human leukemia cells and induced these cells to differentiate. Topoisomerases are involved in many aspects of leukemic cell DNA metabolism such as replication and transcription reactions. In one study, quercetin or salvestrol T30 were shown to inhibit topoisomerase-catalyzed DNA irregularities. In a study of various agents used to induce differentiation of human promyelocytic leukemia cells, salvestrol T30 and salvestrol Q40 were among the flavonoids shown to cause these leukemia cells to mature into healthy monocytes and macrophages.

Latest Salvestrol Research

Research on Salvestrols is Continuing Around the World

Salvestrols, a unique dietary subclass, exert extensive in vitro anti-invasive and in vivo anti-metastatic activities against cancer.

Much of the current research in cancer therapeutics is aimed at developing drugs to target key molecules for combating tumor cell growth, metastasis, proliferation, or changes in the associated stromal microenvironment. Studies on a wide spectrum of plant secondary metabolites extractable as natural products from fruits, vegetables, teas, spices, and traditional medicinal herbs show that these plant natural products can act as potent anti-inflammatory, antioxidant or anticancer agents. The recent advances in genomics and metabolomics have enabled biologists to better investigate the potential use of immunomodulatory natural products for treatment or control of various cancerous diseasesleading to the identification of salvestrols. The cancer preventive or protective activities of the various immunomodulatory natural products lie in their effects on cellular defenses including detoxifying and antioxidant enzyme systems, and the induction of anti-inflammatory and antitumor or antimetastasis responses, often by targeting specific key transcription factors like nuclear factor kappa B (NF-kappaB), activator protein (AP-1), signal transducers and activators of transcription (STAT) and others. This review presents recent findings and hypotheses on the molecular mechanisms through which various inflammatory activities are linked to tumorigenic processes and the specific immunomodulatory natural products that may suppress inflammation and the associated tumor progression and metastasis. In addition to tumor cells the various associated roles of myeloid-derived suppressor cells, stromal fibroblasts, myofibroblasts, and inflammatory immune cells, and the possible effects of phytomedicines on these cells in the tumor microenvironment is being investigated.

Cancer metastasis refers to the spread of cancer cells from the primary neoplasm to distant sites, where secondary tumors are formed, and is the major cause of death from cancer. Natural phytochemicals containing phenolic compounds have been widely demonstrated to have the capability to prevent cancer metastasis. Among phenolic compounds, flavonoids are a very large subclass, and they are abundant in food and nutraceuticals. A sub-class of flavonoids are called salvestrols. The salvestrols are the important anticancer bioflavonoids. The number of reports demonstrating that flavonoids are an effective natural inhibitor of cancer invasion and metastasis is increasing in the scientific literature. Catechin derivatives are the most studied compounds so far, but genistein, silibinin, quercetin, and anthocyanin have also been widely investigated for their inhibitory activities on invasion and metastasis. Other flavonoids in dietary vegetable foods that are responsible for anti-invasive and anti-metastatic activities of tumors include salvestrol Q40, salvestrol T30, myricetin, salvestrol T55, kaempferol, glycitein, licoricidin, daidzein, and naringenin. To effectively overcome the metastatic cascade, including cell-cell attachment, tissue-barrier degradation, migration, invasion, cell-matrix adhesion, and angiogenesis, it is essential that a bioactive compound prevent tumor cells from metastasizing. This article summarizes the effects of flavonoids on the metastatic cascade and the related proteins, the in vitro anti-invasive activity of flavonoids against cancer cells, and the effects of flavonoids on anti-angiogenic and in vivo anti-metastatic models. The available scientific evidence indicates that salvestrols are a unique dietary phenolics subclass of flavoinoids that exert extensive in vitro anti-invasive and in vivo anti-metastatic activities.

Natural products as anti-invasive and anti-metastatic agents.

Invasion and metastasis, the hallmark of malignant tumor, is the main reason for the clinical death of most cancer patients. Tumor invasion and metastasis are complex, multi-step biochemical processes, which involve cell detachment, invasion, migration, intravasation and circulation, implantation, angiogenesis and proliferation. Therefore, how to prevent tumor metastasis has been the biggest challenge in cancer chemotherapy. In recent years, many natural products have been found to have anti-invasive and anti-metastatic activities. In this paper, these natural compounds are classified as polyphenols, terpenoids, alkaloids, steroids, saccharides, salvestrols, macrolides, amides and their anti-invasive and anti-metastatic activities as well as their biological targets are under investigation.

Plant Salvestrols as anti-invasive cancer agents.

Because invasion is, either directly or via metastasis formation, the main cause of death in cancer patients, development of efficient anti-invasive agents is an important research challenge. We have established a screening program for potentially anti-invasive compounds. The assay is based on organotypic confronting cultures between human invasive cancer cells and a fragment of normal tissue in three dimensions. Anti-invasive agents appeared to be heterogeneous with regard to their chemical nature, but plant alkaloids, salvestrols and some of their synthetic congeners were well represented. Even within this group, active compounds were quite diverse: (+)-catechin, salvestrol T55, xanthohumol and other prenylated chalcones, 3,7-dimethoxyflavone, a pyrazole derivative, an isoxazolylcoumarin and a prenylated desoxybenzoin. The data gathered in this system are now applied in two projects. Firstly, structure-activity relationships are explored with computer models using an artificial neural network approach, based on quantitative structural descriptors. The aim of this study is the prediction and design of optimally efficient anti-invasive compounds. Secondly, the metabolism of orally ingested plant polyphenolics by colonic bacteria is studied in a simulator of the human intestinal microbial ecosystem (SHIME) and in human intervention trials. This method should provide information on the final bioavailability of the active compounds in the human body, with regard to microbial metabolism, and the feasibility of designing pre- or probiotics that increase the generation of active principles for absorption in the gastro-intestinal tract. The final and global aim of all these studies is to predict, synthesize and apply in vivo molecules with an optimal anti-invasive, and hence an anti-metastatic activity against cancer.

Salvestrol Based Anticancer Diet

In order to get the best from an anticancer diet it is important to optimise the intake of salvestrols. These are natural anticancer compounds that are present in fruits and vegetables commonly found in a vegetarian diet. The digestion and absorption of salvestrols from the diet requires a healthy digestive system. This is why it is better to be completely vegetarian so that you have a healthy vegetarian digestive tract. The salvestrols in the diet are bound to sugar molecules known as sugar conjugates. These are broken down in the digestive tract by the gur microflora which feed off them to release the free salvestrol which is absorbed by the intestine. If there are high levels of sugar in the diet the gut microflora will feed off the sugar and not the sugar conjugates. With a high sugar diet the salvestrol sugar conjugates will pass through the body unabsorbed. It is only when the sugar levels are low that the gut microflora feed off the salvestrol sugar conjugates to release the free salvestrol. The free salvestrol is then readily absorbed by the intestine to enter the bloodstream. So for optimum absorption of salvestrols from the diet it is best to avoid added sugar in the diet. So if you are juicing to get fruit or vegetable extracts you should not add any sugar to sweeten it, but drink it as it is. My dietary recommendations are summarised below:

The Green and Red Diet
Professor Potter’s dietary recommendations:
Primarily have a vegetarian diet including fruits, vegetables, and herbs. Following this advice, and being selective about both the type and quality of produce you consume will help to maximise your dietary intake of the important salvestrols. Wherever possible eat organic. This is the easily remembered ‘Green and Red’ diet, where the savoury course includes the green vegetables and herbs, and the dessert course includes the red fruits. It is no accident that as a species we prefer to eat savoury foods first and sweet foods after. This preference has evolved, we believe, to maximise the absorption and activation of vital nutrients, such as salvestrols.
For the savoury course the vegetables should be cooked as lightly as possible, and the goodness retained in the food. For example, if vegetables are boiled use the water from this to make gravy or sauces. Roasting whole vegetables is also a good way of retaining the plants goodness.

The fruits and vegetables with the highest salvestrol contents are listed below:
Vegetables: All "Greens", including:
Broccoli, cabbages, kales, savoy, brussels sprouts, cauliflower, kohlrabi, chinese leaf, spinach, chard, watercress, green beans, broad beans, garden peas.
As well as artichokes (globe), red & yellow peppers, beansprouts, celery, salad rocket, avocado, pumpkins, squashes, marrows.

Root Vegetables:
Carrots, parsnip, turnip, jerusalem artichokes.

Herbs:
parsley, sage, rosemary, thyme, basil, mint.

Fruits: All Red fruits:
(grapes, blackcurrants, redcurrants, blackberries, mulberries, cranberries, bilberries).
As well as apples, pears, cherries, plums, apricots, pineapples, mangoes, tangerines.

This dietary advice is for those wishing to use their diet as the sole source of salvestrols. If you take salvestrol supplements you do not need to make any other dietary changes since these are designed to be readily absorbed.
